I recently had the pleasure of traveling to Belize to photograph a destination wedding at Victoria House in Ambergris Caye. I hadn’t been to Belize, though I have traveled to Central America quite a bit and Mexico on the Pacific Side. Needless to say I was ecstatic to see the beauty of the Caribbean. We arrived a few days early to scout locations as well as roam the streets by foot, bike and taxi. We sampled the local fare, ate chocolate (grown in Belize since the ancient Mayans) and chatted with the local merchants. Enjoy a few photos from the trip.
Ariel is a retired fisherman living in Ambergris Caye. He was kind enough to invite me up to his porch and show me how he makes tortillas. Ariel’s friendly demeanor embodied the warm island vibe found in the coastal waters just a short puddle jump from Belize City. He was making 300 tortillas (a small batch by his standards) for a friend who was cooking up chicken the next day.
Amazing pictures. I love that I live on the island and they make me see almost a different place!
